Accessing Your Connection to God
I tell people that the highest intelligence is God.
I want to give you some tools to access a personal connection with God. Your connection may not be the same as your neighbor's, so you must pick the right tools that suit you. To do that, you must do some self-assessment.
Let us recognize that there are various types of individuals. Those who are intellectually oriented follow the path of the intellect. The path of the intellect is not only discursive reasoning. It is beyond that. The path of the intellect may start with inquiry, but it eventually leads to enlightenment. This is called the jnana, the Path of Knowledge.
According to this path, God is Intelligence. So you begin to understand the structure of Intelligence. You begin to question, 'Who is the perceiver?' 'How do I perceive things around me?' 'Am I perceiving through the linguistic tools?' 'What are my prejudices?' 'What is the phenomenon of sound?' 'What is the phenomenon of light?' 'How do I know?'
In this path you follow mostly a monastic life and practice intellectual reasoning and meditative exercises.
However, I recommend a more lively and enjoyable approach. It is the approach of bhakti (devotion). If you devote yourself totally to a God or to a Guru of your choice, you achieve things much faster than through jnana. The devotion should be unconditional. It should be total surrender. Once you do that, you are in the field of grace. It is the easiest way.
You can enter into a very personal relationship with a God of your choice. You can get into a very intimate relationship with the deity. As you begin to pour your heart into the deities, the deities will come alive.
You can worship any deity from any tradition. Make sure you can get into the emotions. If you have a natural pull toward a particular deity, if you could love that deity unconditionally with great emotion, then you can access grace. Once you access grace, your whole self is filled with great intelligence. That intelligence is responsible for creating your life.
Accessing Divine Love, Divine Grace
MANTRA: ARUT PERUM JYOTI
[Pronounced: AR-RUT PEY-RUM JO-TEE]
Chant this mantra: Arut Perum Jyoti
When chanting, visualize grace as a vast light pouring down from heaven. The light comes down. It comes in through the top of your head.
Visualize the vast grace light getting into every cell of the body. Feel the grace of God in every part of you.
Arut means Intelligence. Intelligence is the grace of God. This chant and visualization reprogram your cells. As you continue the chant and visualization, Infinite Divine Intelligence starts to fill you.
Grace fills your mind and purifies it.
Grace fills your ego and purifies it.
The mind merges with grace, and merges with God.
Arut perum jyoti-this mantra comes directly from the Divine. Shiva Nataraj, the dancing form of Lord Shiva, gave it to me when I was Swami Ramalingam in my previous incarnation. I am so happy to give it to you.
As you do the mantra, Arut perum jyoti, visualize white light entering you. Keep seeing the grace light go deeper and deeper into your cells. Try this mantra for 20 minutes.
Keeping the Connection
I encourage you to develop a personal relationship with God. I recommend that you keep a picture or statute of whatever deity you resonate with, and do the following: Light a candle, burn incense. Talk to God like a friend. Tell Him/Her what you want. Pray for grace.
